Bollywood film Industry and fans are celebrating 20 years of Sunny Deol’s smash hit film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and Aamir Khan’s iconic film Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India along with debutant Gracy Singh. With this film, Aamir also started his career in Bollywood as a producer. Both the films were blockbusters and released on the same day on June 15th, 2001.
Lagaan director Ashutosh Gowariker spoke to the Times of India sharing the experience of making the iconic film and added, “The box office response to my first two films jolted me. It also enlightened me to come back with a story that I believed in. A story that will all encompass a cinema-loving audience. And the outcome was the script of Lagaan. And I was fortunate to have Aamir back me on this one, despite our previous film not setting the box office on fire.”
He further added, “It is extremely difficult to convince Aamir to do a film, but once he commits, that is the greatest moment for the director. And I can’t thank him enough. Lagaan has been a most cherished and fulfilling experience for me. I thank the audiences for showering so much love and admiration to Lagaan over the years – 20 to be precise!!”

On the work front, Aamir khan is all set for his upcoming Advait Chandan’s film Laal Singh Chaddha. It is said that this film will be released in theatres in Christmas 2021.
On the other hand, Sunny Deol will return on the big screen with Anil Sharma’s drama film Apne 2. The film is expected to be release around Diwali 2021.
